THE ROLES OF WOMEN IN UTILITY ADVANCEMENT ACROSS AFRICA

The Commisioner, Consumer Affairs, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission - Aisha Mahmud, Executive Director/Founder, SciEtech - Engr. Valerie I. Agberagba (Former Vice President, WFEO), Policy & Partnerships Manager All On, Adaobi Oniwinde, and the Head Project Management, Nigeria Electrification Programme, Rural Electrification Agency, Anita Otubu (Moderator), all featured in the June edition of Power Dialogue organized by The Electricity Hub.
These reputable women made us realize that there are so many opportunities in the Power Sector and people from diverse professions and academic (non technical) background are encouraged to join the Power Sector. They also encouraged females who want to join the Power Sector, to ensure that they become extraordinary, outstandind and the best of their kind. Organisations/Establishments were advised to create working environments that will make women feel safe and zero-tolerance policies to protect women from sexual harassments.
Women were also encouraged to have self-confidence & be bold, respectful, hardworking, resilient, competent, open-to-learning, always see themselves as precedence and not give excuses with their gender.
Those who indicated interest to venture into Private Power Sectors were directed to join the right Platforms, to enable them get the right information they need at every stage.
